Brain Dumping for Fun and Profit

I actually like stealing titles for blog posts, and just tweaking them to sound weird. I’d read this post I reckon if it was in a feed reader…..

So the big news is Tim Ferris has sold his majorly successful business BrainQuicken.com, I’ll repeat that, Tim Ferris has sold a business that only takes 4 hours a week to maintain.

Why?

Why would anyone sell a business that supports one’s lifestyle with very little ongoing effort, this sounds exactly like the business that Dave and I were discussing in Episode 4 – Cashflow, Why exactly would you sell it… It sounds silly even insane!

Brain Dumping

Brain Dumping is the act of taking all that information that’s filling your head, doing laps while you are trying to sleep, and getting it out into something tangible, into a working product, into someone else’s capable hands. This is what Tim Ferris has done, He’s let his baby go to someone else.

Once you’ve let this kind of information out, it’s liberating, a personal example is that I passed all the bill paying on to my wonderful Fiancé, She now handles it, I don’t have to worry that I paid the phone bills on time, as I know that it’s taken care of. Which frees up my mind for more important tasks, like the next big App.
In fact Tim Ferris himself had a great example of this in his book, He outsourced his worrying, No more worrying about that big contract coming in, as he knew that his personal assistant was already worried enough. He didn’t need to.

Here’s the original Story I found – http://www.inc.com/articles/2010/10/why-tim-ferriss-sold-brainquicken.html

Episode 4 – Cashflow

What a busy day, Been flatout, Lots of emergencies happened due to some power outages on the weekend…

Luckily I always set aside the time for the podcast first thing monday morning, Dave and I again down at the Elkira, Didn’t have a topic, so we decided to start with Cashflow.

Very Interesting Topic, led us down some great side topics.

Let us know what you think.

0 to Financial Freedom

I’ve been working hard for the better part of my life so far, I’ve been “Unemployed” for 2 years now, And I have to say, wow, It’s not as easy as I thought, But that’s another story for another day.

What I want to talk about today is Financial Freedom, My extensive research on the subject tells me that there are 2 well known ways to reach Financial Freedom.

1) Increase Passive Income - This is where you make more investments, get more passive income by any means, Once it reaches a higher level than your expenses, you are Free.

2) Decrease Expenses - If you sufficiently decrease your expenses, to the point where your existing passive income exceeds your expenses. Then you are Free.

I’ve just started the ball rolling on number 2 for myself. My Fiance and I are about the severely decrease our expenses while at the same time pickup up a nice little windfall. If everything goes as planned, We will be Financially Free within 2 months. This doesn’t mean I’ve achieved my goals in Lifestyle Design, However this is the first step I feel.

I’m still running a business with Physical Presence and I’ve still got family connections in Alice Springs, Which means for the foreseeable future I’m still in Alice Springs.

My point is that everyone needs to work out how they are going to become Financially Free and then work towards it.
If you’ve come up with another way of doing it? or want to tell us how you did it. Please comment

Lifestyle Triggers

When Dave and I were doing the podcast on monday, It dawned on me, a whole topic I’ve never seen covered in any book or blog on lifestyle design – LIFESTYLE TRIGGERS.  Hit me up in the comments if you’ve covered it and I missed it.

Years ago, when I was working for the man, I used to knock off work as soon as I could and Race home, once there I had a special set of 3/4 jeans that I would change into, I’d purchased 4 sets originally because they were comfortable.

As soon as I had those pants on, I was happy, They were my Lifestyle pants so to speak, They looked pretty bad on me (I’d later find out) But they made me happy. It occurred that to get ready for Monday (My New Lifestyle Day), I was wearing thongs (Sandles for non aussies), Jeans and a lazy shirt. I was feeling very relaxed.

Lifestyle Triggers

I realised that it was exactly that which i was missing. Life has changed dramatically for me since those days, Fiancé, Kids, Business and I haven’t taken the time to find my own lifestyle triggers again, Ideally it shouldn’t be a lifestyle trigger, Ideally it would just be living the lifestyle, However I’m still in a transitional phase of my lifestyle design, I’m very much still working in old world business models. I dabble in my lifestyle as I make my transition .

I’m sure lots of would be lifestyle designers can follow this train of thought, It’s not quite possible to be 100% free, Sometimes you have to be part Lifestyle Guy, Part worker drone.

What does this mean for you?

How does comfy clothes worn during a podcast remind me pants from years ago.  Lifestyle, I feel more relaxed wearing comfy clothes, I’m sure you have something in your life that you can remember that made you happy, Our memories are stimulated by more than just words, Smells, Textures and Tastes all bring back these memories, So the Thought for the day is, Lifestyle Triggers, Find yours, And use it liberally, Hopefully this will get you into the right frame of mind to make lifestyle design decisions.

Find yours

Is it a comfortable recliner chair?  Is it a certain pair of old faded jeans?  Is it a walk in the park with your best friend, lover or your dog?  Only you can find the triggers.  But, by all means find them, hold onto them, use them.  Use them to motivate you so your whole life is virtually one great big lifestyle trigger!

Hit us up on the comments if you have a trigger you’d like to share, Or any questions

Episode 2 – Outsourcing

Everyone Needs to at least read Part 3 on How to build an Audience

Lifestyle is What you Make of It!

Dave held his Monthly meeting of the Property Investors Group, PIIX last night. Great Success, He told everyone of his trips to the US to buy property while the going is good.

Dave is really excited because I’ve set him up 2 new blogs, Lifestyle Guys and the new PIIX blog, He’s excited to get his creativity out, Get his Excitement and Enthusiasm onto paper, Or keyboard…..

Which got me thinking, My Lifestyle is still a little lackluster, Here we are trying to demonstrate how to live life, Yet I’m not actually feeling like that. I still feel trapped and anxious and Billed to death…. Where is this going? Well sometimes it’s this sort of negative thinking is just the kind of kick you really need.

What’s an Info Product, you ask?

Info Product is the new Buzzword I’ve been hearing all over the place, But what is an infoproduct?

Dave’s just about to foray into this little market, I’m still yet to do something like this, But hopefully after Dave has released his, He’ll have some insights for us all

I don’t want to give it all away, I’ve found a post on the subject that pretty much covers it all,

This little post seems to explains it – Over Here

Any Ideas what you’d create given the chance?
